304 Raw Stainless Steel Bar, Sheet and Rod Material

SAE 304 stainless steel, also known as UNS S30400 in the unified numbering system, or 18-8 steel, is one of the most used stainless steels for the construction of both industrial and scientific research vacuum environment chambers and apparatus. 304 stainless steel stocks have excellent resistance to a wide range of atmospheric environments and many corrosive media. It is a Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steel grade comprised of 18% Cr and 8% Ni by weight.

Advantages of 304 Raw Stainless Steel

Some of the advantages of 304 stainless steel

  • Corrosion Resistance: 304SS is a high Cr-Ni alloy with good corrosion resistance, can resist the erosion of most chemical substances, not easy to rust, suitable for making a variety of corrosion resistant equipment and appliances.
  • Processing Performance: 304SS is easy to process, shape and weld, can be used to make a variety of shapes of products, with good plasticity and machinability.
  • Cost: 304SS has lower costs than higher corrosion stainless grades such as 316SS

AGP offers a selection of standard 304 stainless steel stock shapes in small and convenient formfactors, including stainless steel bars, stainless steel rods and stainless steel sheets, which are ideal for projects requiring a small quantity of material— eliminating the minimum volume purchase requirements imposed by most material supply houses. These include a selection of 12-Inch length rectangular stainless steel bars in popular width and thickness combinations, 6x6-Inch stainless steel sheets from .036 to .120-Inch thicknesses, as well as foot-long cylindrical stainless steel rods from .125 to 1-Inch diameters.
